Staycation

We have been super busy last couple of weeks. Kathy came to visit us and she wanted to do all the fun things she remembered doing as a kid. We were up early and in super late most nights, our kids really had lots of fun. We went to the Strawberry days carnival and and played at the park and of course got strawberry's and cream. We had a girls only night at the New york cheesecake factory, YUM!! The girls were in the Strawberry days parade and it did rain a couple of times pretty hard, but it really kept the parade cool. We had a Father's Day BBQ at our house on Sunday and had fun playing cards and hanging out.

Monday we loaded up the cooler and picnic supplies and headed out to a park in Cedar hills, the kids played and got wet in the river. We also headed down to Bridal veil falls and went on the river trail hike, and played in the water. We also had tickets to Beauty and the Beast at the Murray amphitheater, it was awesome. Ari was so exited she loves princess and got her picture with Belle. She cried when we had to leave the castle.

Tuesday we went up to the kenecott mine the kids liked seeing the big trucks and we got there just in time for them to do a explosion on the mine. We also stopped at the international peace garden in Salt Lake, I've always loved walking around and seeing the different countrys represented. We had a yummy picnic in the park and headed to Liberty park to cool off in the water.

We went to Seven peaks for a half day and I got Desi on the water slide for the first time ever. Friday we woke up super early to hike Timp Cave, I have been practicing for this by walking up and down a hill by my house. I thought Desi might have a hard time, but she was a champ. The kids loved the cave and thought it was awesome. All the kids got their Jr. Ranger badges after the hike too. One of my favorite parks growing up is the Adventure learning park behind Lone peak high. It's still fun and it has a lake to feed the ducks, but it defiantly isn't maintained like it use to be. We fed the ducks and walked around the lake and walked around the trails.
Sunday afternoon we all headed up the American Fork Canyon for a wiener roast and smores, it was fun to see the kids explore and chase Grandma with worms. Monday all the brave hearted headed off to Lagoon, Kathy and I, of course Grandma Fran and all my boy nephews went. We all rode on every roller coaster in the park, ate corn on the cob and got the biggest headaches ever from getting adult shaken syndrome.

It was so much fun while Kathy was here, we wore ourselves out trying to relive our childhoods. I can't wait to do it again, but let me catch up on my sleep first.
