Thankful Thursday

1. The sunny weather-It's been beautiful this week, the kids have been to the park twice we also had a little picnic. Spring is coming!!

2. Good food-Jim has been bragging about moochies in Salt lake for over a year and this week I finally tasted their sandwiches. Yummy Phillie cheesesteak sandwiches.

3. Desi arm is on the mend

4. NO milk-today I ran out of milk and gave Devin plain cereal in a bowl, he didn't want cereal so he dumped it out onto the bar and threw his bowl across the room. If I'd had milk this would have been a much bigger mess., and they say boys aren't' drama queens!

5. cartoons-it's the only time my house stays clean.

6. Coke-very necessary

7. No eczema this week-I almost don't want to jinxes it, but Devin's face has been clear for over a week.

Desi's arm

Grandma decided to take all the cousins to Kangaroo Zoo on Saturday. I always fear she will hurt herself, but I can't keep her in a bubble so I let her go. She ended up hurting her arm and we didn't think it was broken but Monday she was still complaining of pain. Daddy had to take her to get x-rayed, I was feeling so guilty I didn't know if I could hold it together to find out. She went to her doctor first, and she said she was almost certain it was broke and sent her off to get x-rays. Jim called me at home to tell me, I was so sad for her, she has been working so hard with her dance studio since June and her competition season starts on Saturday and ends the the first week of April(the exact amount of time she would be in a cast).
I was honestly freaking out, I walked straight to the liquor cabinet. I was praying God would heal her arm. The x-rays came back with no break, PRAISE GOD!! The doctor wants to continue to ice it and keep in the splint for protection and take it easy for a week. So YAY!!

Side note: Desi's competitions start this Saturday, this one is at Thanksgiving point. I don't want to post details on here. But if you would like to come shoot me a email and I'll let you know the times.

Skittles

These little candy's are my new obsession, if I run out I have to go the store. I'm eating way to many, I think I need a skittles support group.

Sub Zero Ice Cream

Sub Zero ice cream is so good, if you haven't had it you must try it. They make your ice cream fresh to order. You tell them the milk fat you want and flavor and candy's you want to add. Then they use liquid nitrogen to flash freeze it into ice cream. It has such a unique flavor YUM!!

Desi has been giving me super attitude and not respecting my authority lately and today she crossed the line, I told Desi, "no ice cream for you." I stuck to it, we as a family went and got ice cream and she sat and watched us eat it. I think it was harder for me than it was for her, it just broke my heart. I feel I did the right thing but to see her seating there with such a sad face. Ugh, parenting is so hard sometimes.

Puzzle Mania

Ariana thought it would be super fun to take every puzzle that we own and dump the pieces in this big tote. Jim and I sat and and put them together last night, while watching American idol. I swear that girl thinks I have nothing better to do.

Go Utes!!

Our family has turned into big basketball Ute fans. If I'm not at the game with Jim than I'm watching on TV(and I have never been into sports). Ari and Desi cheer and yell, Go Utes. The kids heard the band playing the Ute fight song on the news and immediately recognized it. They also love watching crazy lady dance. GO UTES!!

My panic attack

I was getting my grocery list together and stepped out of the office and this is where I find my Son!! This doll is my stunt doll, so you could all have a visual. I guess this is why I call them the Adams family monkeys. I told him if he ever did it again he would be grounded to his room forever. Thank God nothing happened.

Devin loves to help his Dad, he loves just watching him, handing him tools and copying his every move. It's just to cute!!

newspaper clippings

I love reading the local city paper, they are stopping print of all the North Utah county papers in our area. They are so small town but I love reading it, I find myself laughing at the silly things that make it into the paper. Like, man was arrested after picking local flowers out of town square, Man says he paid for them with his taxes so he can pick them if he wants. We all need a good laugh sometimes. I found some funny newspaper paper articles to share. Enjoy!!

My rant and rambling

OK, first off, I don't claim to be a expert in government budgets or educational budgets. But this week I received my annual school district stakeholder report in the mail. This is a magazine quality, full color brochure, with graphs and pictures. How much did this cost? I just think with the economic crisis that America is in right now, that this report could have been sent out on regular paper in black and white. I would have even been happy with a postcard sending me to a web page, the postage alone must have been outrageous. This report goes to every home in the district, so all the kids that go to a private school, or charter school, or people that could care less still get the report. I bet at least half went right into the trash. I also thought it was interesting that they reported that kindergarten class size were 21 kids to ratio, Desi had 32 kids in her kindergarten class last year. The news reported the next day that the district had failed to count correctly... REALLY, at least this is where my child is learning her math skills. I know that this annual report is typical, my mother in law in California is the Secretary at her local elementary school and they are cutting jobs but they also send out the fancy report. I don't want education budget cuts, but I do think there is a lot that districts could be smarter about spending in some areas. I did try to educate myself by looking at the budget on the web, it's 82 pages long and has a lot of areas where they could hide overspending. Of course this is all my opinion, but I would like to hear what everyone thinks on this subject.
