Suprise!!

After the recital last night, I drove back over to my Dad's house to pick up Devin. I was walking up to the house and my sister from Canada comes running out the house. She said the look on me and my moms face was priceless. I was so excited to see her, too bad we only were able to chat for 30 minutes. Our kids were tired and they had been traveling all day, and we leave for California this morning. It's OK at least I got to see her and hug her, and she will be back in two weeks anyway. Kathy's hubby had a business meeting out here and they decided to drive and bring the family. To bad she didn't come a few hours earlier she could have come to the girls dance recital.

anniversary

Nine years ago today I married my sweet hubby. It has been a amazing 9 years with much more adventures to come. We can look at each other and know what the other is thinking. We are leaving for California in the morning and I'm busy packing and getting everything ready and Jim is buttoning up work projects. Tonight is the girls dance recital. What i'm saying is we have no time to celebrate today. We are hoping to sneak off and go out to dinner when we get to California . One of our favorite places is, Tahoe Joe's I can't wait. Clam chowder, railroad shrimp, ribs, it is all so Yummy!!

Neglect

I have been neglecting my blog the last couple of weeks. I have so much going that I have blog ADD. Summer is really just around the corner and the kids have really been enjoying their time outside. The kids had their first picnic on our deck that was just finished this month.
Everything is ending in May and I'm excited to have little on my calender for the next couple of months. We had our last MOPS meeting for the year, I'm going to miss having Adult conversation, and a morning without my kids bugging me. This year has been so great and I've learned so much just being a part of mops. It has also been great to be a part of leadership team. Next year I'm excited to take on a new position with Mops steering, I will be taking on the publicity. I will be putting together a newsletter's each month, and getting the word out about our group. I'm excited to try something different this year.

Jim's Grandpa has been sick in the hospital this week, and it's defiantly been a emotional roller coaster. We are hoping for the best and grateful to everyone for their prayers. We know that it's all in God's hands. We are blessed to have lots of family and everyone was able to come from out of town. He is doing much better today and we hope he can go home soon.

The girls are excited Grandma gets to watch them dance at their recital which is tomorrow. It will be the first time she has seen the recital live. Which reminds me if anyone would like to come and needs more info let me know.

The Truck

Having only one vehicle that fits all 3 of our kids, put us in a bid sometimes at night. Whoever watches the kids get the van so that leaves me driving the truck at night when I have meetings I need to attend. Jim's usually hurrying home so I can run out the door, but sometimes he gets held up. Like yesterday I had a meeting in Salt Lake and he was running late on a job in Farmington, so I started driving up and we met in the middle and swapped vehicles on the side of the road.

I love Jim truck, but it's kind of a love/hate relationship. It works great for a work truck, and it rarely breaks down, I just don't want to drive it. Work truck=tools, food wrappers, empty drink bottles, grease, and a smell that I can't even describe. I usually open the door carefully so wrapper or other things don't fall out of it. I used to have to use pliers to pull out the emergency brake cord, which I always had to dig around on the floor to find to find the pliers, Jim fixed this a couple of months ago. The handle grabber on the inside of the door is missing so I try to grip the door wherever I can and slam it shut. One time I was driving and hit a bump, it was really unavoidable(construction on 3300 south, when does it end), the tail gate must have come open. I'm lucky nothing fell out the back of the truck, that would have sucked, me running in traffic trying to collect my hubby's tools from the middle of the road. I tried to shut the gate but it kept falling down, I had a friend grab a end and we both slammed as hard as we could and it worked, until I started driving and and heard it fall down again. I called Jim to see if there was some special technique to doing this. Sure enough he said you have to hit the handle really hard after its closed, I gave it my best try and all I accomplished was a sore hand. I decided to give it my best kick boxing try, and sure enough it was shut for good this time. I can just imagine what people were seeing watching me inside of Diva cupcake as I was kicking the crap out my truck, good times.

Lots of times my meeting are at houses in Sugarhouse, I can't parallel park anyway let alone a huge truck. It just adds a whole new challenge trying to park this big truck without barreling into something. Sometimes I drop Desi off at dance in the truck before heading to my meeting, Desi laughs and says," mom you really don't know how to drive this truck, you are going to crash."

Yesterday on the way home in the truck I felt something poking me in the back, I tried to ignore it. I reached back and it was a hacksaw, really a hacksaw what the hell!! I told Jim about it and he told me it was harmless and had a dull blade. He is just lucky it didn't rip my good Costco pants!!

I always find myself laughing, you just never know the adventures your going to have while driving the truck.

Santa

Over the weekend Desi was talking to her sibling about Santa, she was telling them Santa was a fictional character. I looked at Jim and he looked at me, we haven't had this talk with her yet. We quickly quieted her and told her we would talk later. She has been on to us for a few years, asking lots of questions and just doubting the whole idea. I started asking other parents around Christmas time what age they told their kids and average was 8-9 so I figured we would tell her next year, I guess she had different plans. I felt my parents waited a little too long before they shared the secret with me. I felt I had been defending Santa's honor on the playground all for nothing, I felt like a idiot(I was in 5Th grad).
Jim had the duty of explaining, he is so much better with words than I am. He first asked if Santa's not real, than who puts out gifts and fills stockings. Desi said mom and dad, and you buy stuff secretly and hide it until Christmas eve. He told her she was right, and started to explain that although Santa as a person in a red suit who lives at the north pole is fictional, Santa's spirit is alive though others that share gifts and the love of Jesus with others. Jim asked if she believed in the Easter bunny and she said no, but she did believe in the tooth fairy, which I thought was funny, out of all the characters, the tooth fairy I find the hardest to believe.
She took it really well and is excited to be part of what she calls the parents secret, and next year she gets to help plan, shop, hide and stuff stockings.
